| Estate Sale, Senior Moving, Downsizing Experts of Nashville

|

Hello! We're Mark and Mary McClure! During our more than 16 years of living in the Greater Nashville, TN area (specifically, Franklin, in Williamson County) we've seen many friends struggle during stressful and overwhelming times, such as a life changing illness, the death of a loved one or the changing needs of aging parents. We personally experienced the death of Mark's mom in 2005 and Mary's dad in 2010 and the subsequent downsizing of the surviving parent. We have experienced what you are going through! This compelled us to start Caring Transitions, a business that provides help to Seniors and their families needing assistance coping with senior moving, downsizing and estate sales.
Our background, life and professional experiences have uniquely positioned us to serve as your Senior Moving and Transition Specialists! Mark's background in project management and ministry, and Mary's 10+ years of experience as a Realtor, plus her special training as a Certified Relocation and Transition Specialist (CRTS) and Professional Stager (member of ASP and IAHSP), help ensure that we will act as your onsite advocate, keeping your family’s best interests at heart. Our focus is to minimize your stress and maximize your returns while helping you through a difficult time in your family’s life.

| 12 Questions to Ask Before Hiring an Estate Sale Company
|
|
|
Not all estate sales companies are created equal! Choosing the wrong company could be a costly mistake and leave your home in a complete mess after the sale. Be sure to "check under the hood" before you hire an estate sales company. When comparing and interviewing potential companies, here are some helpful questions to ask--and remember to get their answers in writing! Feel free to print this and use as a reference when making comparisons and obtaining bids.
* * * * *
1. Do you maintain Liability (theft, injury, etc.) insurance for your sales and Workers’ Comp policies for your employees? (Yes No)
(Caring Transitions maintains comprehensive Liability Insurance and Workers’ Comp policies for your protection and peace of mind.)
2. Will those individuals staging my sale be actual employees of your company (not contract workers)? Have they been pre-screened and have you had background checks run on them? (Yes No)
(At Caring Transitions, we only hire carefully pre-screened individuals who are actual employees of ours, not “contract help”. Each of our employees must pass a background check and each is fully bonded before he/she sets foot on your property. You won’t be dealing with rude, disheveled, shady or incompetent contract workers when you hire us!)
3. Will our house be left in sellable condition after my sale? (Yes No)
(Caring Transitions can de-clutter, sort, clean and organize your home before and after the sale. We can even stage it so it’s positioned to sell for the best possible price! But that’s not all: We can help you find a reputable Realtor™, even one who’s certified in Senior Relocation and Transitions Services. We facilitate the donation of any unsold items to the charity of your choice. Last, but not least, when we leave your home we guarantee it will be “broom swept” clean!)
4. What percentage of the total sale receipts do you charge as a commission? (____%)
(Here’s a common mistake: Don’t let the percentage of sales charged be the only criteria when choosing a company. A lower percentage does not necessarily mean you will make more money. Also, many companies write bids based on an inventory of ALL items in your home, which could artificially inflate your expected return, especially if you had planned on removing certain items prior to the sale. You may be charged a commission once they have started working on the sale if something is removed.)
(Caring Transitions provides a researched and fair market value for your items so they will sell. Can we guarantee that everything at your estate sale will sell? Of course not! However, we price items realistically and fairly, to increase the chances that they will sell. And the more you sell, the greater your profit. A house full of overpriced items will be a house full of unsold items!)
5. Can customers use credit cards for purchases they make during the estate sale? (Yes No)
(Caring Transitions cheerfully accepts all major credit cards!)
6. How will you advertise and promote my estate sale?
(Caring Transitions’ estate sales are advertised in a wide variety of online and print platforms. These include The Tennessean classifieds (print and online); on websites including CaringTransitions.net, Estatesales.net, TagSellIt.com, and craigslist; our Facebook page; and via e-mail blasts to those on our mailing list.)
7. Do you offer online auctions? (Yes No)
(Caring Transitions also offers an online auction site for the sale of large, unique or particularly valuable items.)
8. How long have you been in business? (______ years)
(Caring Transitions has been in business since 2005. And we have a national network of over 135 affiliate offices, so we’re not a fly-by-night operation!)
9. Will you photograph and inventory my possessions? (Yes No)
(Our hand-picked staff will treat your possessions with care! We take numerous photographs prior to every sale, and we create an inventory for every sale.)
10. In the event that I have a concern or complaint, is there a mediation process in place? (Yes No)
(At Caring Transitions, our greatest desire is to exceed your expectations. In the rare event that there is a complaint that we cannot locally resolve, our national headquarters located in Cincinnati, Ohio, can help resolve such issues, if necessary.)
11. Do you offer a free in-home consultation? (Yes No)
(Yes! Call us today and we will be happy to meet with you at your home, at your convenience, free of charge!)
12. Do you offer a detailed, written legal contract that specifically spells out your obligations? (Yes No)
(Caring Transitions utilizes detailed, pre-printed, legal agreements that protect you, your possessions, and your home!)

I'd like to thank you and Mary for your help in relocating my mother to her new apartment. Having Mary sort through all of Mom's belongings in advance enabled us to discard items that have not been used or worn in years. You and Mary both immediately established an excellent rapport with Mom that facilitated your ability to assist with her relocation.
Mom is thrilled with her new apartment and is still marvelling at how quickly and efficiently the transition was managed with your help. I appreciate that this even has built a level of trust that will allow you to continue to provide support in the months ahead.
Given our extensive travel schedule and busy lives, your help enables us to spend quality time with Mom even while her needs for assistance are being met. It gives me great confidence to know that you are partners with us in caring for Mom.
J. A. Deane
We would not have had a clue how to do the things that you did in clearing out our father's apartment. It took a load off our family, was prompt and thoughtful, and we thought the price was extremely reasonable. John H
Mark and Mary, Mom sings your praises and that is a blessing! H. R.
Please accept this letter as a thankful message for the professional way in which you conducted the elimination of our unwanted and unneeded household goods. This will make our transition to a new location much more manageable for us. We also felt that your advertising, cleaning, and display were very instrumental in the large interest in our properties.
You have our sincere gratitude for the way in which you left the condition of our home after the sale. It was a pleasant surprise to find everything left in a neat and orderly manner. Please feel free to use us for future recommendations to new clients.Johnny and Diane J.
Thank you, Caring Transitions, for the help you provided in my recent estate sale. Not only was it profitable but you also made it fun!
Maria G.

| What is a CRTS?
|
|
|
CRTS™ is more than education or training—it is the most recognized symbol of professionalism and standards in move management, senior relocation and senior transition services.
Certified Relocation and Transition Specialist (CRTS)™ is the only Certification credential in the relocation industry and is much more than a paid membership or certificate. It is a Professional Designation. It is earned.
Certified Transition Specialists are dedicated professionals who provide a spectrum of moving and age-in-place services for senior clients, their families and caregivers.
While there is diversity in services, all CRTS professionals:
- Provide a home assessment to determine client needs.
- Create transition timetables.
- Coordinate resources.
- Perform or supervise sorting, packing, moving, downsizing, organizing and resettlement services.
