Hello - my name is Sherri (pictures left to right) and I - with my mother-in-law Sharlene, business partner Ann Williams, my husband Matt, Online Sales Manager Jeff Smith, and Estate Sales Manager Jennifer Yount - welcome you to Caring Transitions of Southern Arizona.   We are residents of Tucson and have seen many families struggle during some of life’s most stressful and overwhelming times, such as a divorce, a life changing illness, the death of a loved one or the changing needs of an aging parent. It inspired our family to start Caring Transitions, a business that provides personalized support to Seniors and their families needing a single-source solution when faced with major life transitions like downsizing and relocation.

We bring a varied background:  we have been teachers, researchers, executives, writers, counselors, landscape architects, foster parents, entrepeneurs, managers, and mediators.  We have also been wives, mothers, husbands, fathers, daughters, sons, grand-daughters and grandsons  and have helped our own beloved parents and grandparents navigate through many of life's challenges - so you can be assured that we will act as your compassionate onsite advocate, keeping your family’s best interests at heart. Our focus is to minimize your stress by helping you through a challenging and often overwhelming time in your family’s life.  Among the services we offer:

SENIOR RELOCATION:  Caring Transitions gives families peace of mind by coordinating all the details of a Senior Move from packing boxes to finding a Realtor®. We can ease the stress of relocating a loved one to a retirement community, nursing care center, hospice, another family member’s home, or even a move within the current home.  At Caring Transitions we can: 

  • Locate, organize & sort personal belongings

 ORGANIZING/DOWNSIZING:   When you or a loved one decide to right-size into a smaller, more convenient home, Caring Transitions can help you settle in and make the new place yours. From coordinating a move to finding new homes for some of your belongings, we can help ease your transition.  At Caring Transitions, we can:

ESTATE SALES/LIQUIDATION:  Once you or your parent has settled into their new smaller home (or if your family has lost a loved one), you may need to coordinate an estate sale. That’s where Caring Transitions comes in. When you need to sell or liquidate personal belongings in a timely manner for the best possible price, we can minimize your stress and maximize returns.  At Caring Transitions we can:

  • Locate, sort, and organize belongings
  • Take inventory, photograph, and appraise items for sale

Not only are we passionate about supporting our client families, but we are also passionate about serving our community. We are active volunteers in Civano's Aging in Community, Friends of the Public Library, Civano Neighborhood Association, Civano Community Garden, TAMA, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and have contributed time and energy to the Civano Schools.  We are members of Pima Council on Aging, Health & Wellness Marketing Group, Spotlight on Seniors, the National Association of Senior Move Managers (NASMM), the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO), the Greater Vail Chamber of Commerce and the Green Valley Chamber of Commerce.  Additionally we have earned the prestigious Certified Relocation and Transition Specialist (CRTS), the Certified Senior Advisor (CSA) and National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO) designation.

Meet your team

  Sherri Gillette is our Chief Executive Officer.   Sherri brings years of sales, marketing, public relations, and team-building experience to the business.  She has worked for large corporations like Pella Corporation, Frigidaire, and Rain Bird.  She has experienced first-hand the challenges of helping an aging parent navigate major life transitions.  Additionally, she has earned the prestigious Senior Relocation and Transition Specialist certification (CRTS).  Sherri is also our resident estate sale and auction junkie - having spent much of her life learning and appreciating the value of found treasures.  She believes that Caring Transitions allows her to combine all of her experiences to create a uniquely positive solution for seniors and their families.  Sherri has a B. A. in English, Speech, and History and a Masters in Business with a concentration in Marketing.  Sherri is often the one you'll meet when you want to know more about our services.  She supports the estate sale side of the business and often helps the Senior Move Manager with moves.

   Ann Williams is our Senior Move Manager and a partner in the business. As a former probation officer and landscape designer, Ann brings years of experience working directly with clients from all walks of life. Like Sherri, she has also had first hand experience with assisting an aging relative make major life changes. As her late husband retired from the military, Ann has personally experienced an inordinate amount of relocations and understands the difficulty of downsizing when moving. Still a foster-Mom, Ann is passionate about helping others. She has a BA in Criminology and Sociology and a Masters in Landscape Architecture. Ann leads our very busy senior moving business and can often be seen helping at estate sales.

  Sharlene Gillette is our Customer Experience Manager.  Sharlene currently works with volunteer organizations Aging In Community, Civano Neighbors Neighborhood Association, and Friends of the Pima County Public Library. Her work experience includes education of adults and counseling and she is positive Caring Transitions can, indeed, make unexpected events unexpectedly easier.  She believes as we age our spirit thrives on learning new things.  While moving and downsizing can be a big challenge, Sharlene likes to help folks remember the good times past and to look ahead to the calm and cheerful years ahead of us all.  She has earned the Certified Senior Advisor (CSA) designation - allowing her to counsel our clients and their families on a number of relevant topics.  Sharlene manages our customer follow-up and customer satisfaction efforts and also is a huge help on the estate sale side of the business.  She is our book expert and can make a stack of old linens look like a million bucks!

   Matt Gillette is our Chief Operations Officer and is one of our mainstays on estate sale days. In addition to his responsibilities on the operations side of the business – doing everything from payroll to vendor management, Matt spends time instilling self-reliance, dedication and perseverance in our youth through his work with the Boy Scouts of America. He also works full-time in the financial services industry.  Along with his wife, Sherri, Matt has enjoyed many years of scouring sales and auctions and appreciates the opportunity that our sales give him to spread the joy of found treasure to others while he continues to expand his own knowledge of collectibles.

  Jennifer Yount is our Estate Sale Manager.  Jennifer has a number of years experience with social services, case management and informal counseling with homeless and people of all ages suffering from change and loss. She has also worked in telecommunications and retail in addition to being a mom, homemaker, caretaker of parents, and parenting a grandchild full time. Jennifer sings with a praise and worship team ( Souled Out ) and is married with two daughters and a granddaughter. She joined Caring Transitions as a result of her mother's passing and estate needs. She was so pleased with the results, felt it would be a great company to be employed with and in fact, is!  Jennifer has spent a lifetime among antiques and collectibles and brings a tremendous knowledge base to the team.

  Jeff Smith is our Online Sales Manager. Jeff moved to Arizona in 1993 and began working and finding a passion for business and sales.  He worked with his dad on various jobs; his favorite was the weekend gig at the swap meet reselling found objects. At 16, he got a job selling Christmas trees at Target as a seasonal job which quickly turned full-time and evolved into manager of electronics. To fuel his natural entrepeneurial spirit he would buy and sell storage locker contents online. He joined the Caring Transitions team in 2012 - quickly showing his leadership on both the move side and estate sale side of the business. When the business decided to expand and fill a growing need on the online sales side - Jeff was an EXCELLENT fit to lead our efforts!

And then there is the rest of the super Caring Transitions team that helps with moves, estate sales, and anywhere else we need an extra set of hands: Jim, Ashley, Clarissa, Cheree, Pat, Ezekiel, Ben, Saud, Gabriel, Meghan, Melissa, Ashley, Patrick, Suzanne, Jack, Joe, Bee, Aidan, Kyle, Donna and Becca. We couldn’t do it without them!
